Sonila has a unique insight and understanding into state and federal tax laws and how they affect bankruptcy filings in Maryland. Attorney Isak Wintz attended Cooley Law School at Western Michigan University, where she earned an honor scholarship and landed on the Dean's List. While attending, she had the honor of serving as an Associate Editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Journal of Practical and Clinical Law. In the capacity as an Associate Editor, Sonila gained experience in legal research, writing and editing. She earned her juris doctorate degree in 2010.

While working towards her law degree, she gained valuable experience working as a legal assistant for a law firm in New York, New York and later as a law clerk for the Office of the State's Attorney for Worcester County, Maryland.

Prior to entering law school, Sonila earned her bachelor's degree in legal studies from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she was on the Dean's List and graduated magna cum laude.
